Quilt Privacy Policy
Effective November 3, 2026.
Quilt records the stories people tell about their lives and keeps them for their family. That means we hold some of the most personal things anyone will hand us: their voice and their memories. This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it, which companies help us, and how to get it deleted. It covers the Quilt app at app.tellquilt.com and our website at tellquilt.com.
"Quilt", "we" and "us" mean Another Tuesday LLC, a Texas limited liability company doing business as Quilt. You can reach us at hello@tellquilt.com.
The short version
- Your family's recordings belong to your family. We keep them so you can listen, and we use them only to run Quilt. We don't sell them, we don't show ads, and we don't use them to train AI models.
- Quilt's interviewer is an AI. It asks questions out loud in a computer voice. It never generates, clones or alters anyone's voice. Every voice you hear in a story is a real person, except the interviewer's.
- We don't identify people by their voice. Quilt has no voiceprints.
- A handful of companies help us run Quilt. Each one is listed below with what it receives. Our website also uses measurement tools from Meta, Google and Microsoft. The Quilt app doesn't.
- You can delete stories, messages and the whole account. Deleted stories and accounts are gone from Quilt within 30 days, and from our backups within 7 days after that.
- You must be 18 or older to set up a family or pay. Anyone invited to a family must be 13 or older.
Who's who
A family on Quilt is one shared account. People in it have one or more of these roles:
- Admins set up the family, invite people, manage the plan and control the family's recordings. A family can have more than one admin.
- Storytellers have conversations with Quilt's interviewer.
- Listeners listen, leave messages for a storyteller and reply to stories.
The admin who pays is our customer. This policy covers everyone in the family.
What we collect
Things you give us
- Your name, email address and password, and your confirmation of your age.
- Optionally, how you're related to others in the family and the pronouns you'd like used.
- Anything added to help the interviewer, such as names of people and places and how to spell or say them.
- A storyteller's weekly time to talk: the days, the time and their time zone.
- Recordings. When a storyteller has a conversation, we record it and save two kinds of audio: the storyteller's microphone on its own, which is what your family's clips are cut from; and the whole conversation, with both the storyteller and the interviewer's computer voice, so you can hear the questions.
- Welcome messages, voice messages and replies that family members record or write for each other.
- Payment details, which go straight to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your plan, what you paid and your billing address, for tax.
- Gifts: the giver's name and email, the recipient's name and email, the delivery date and the giver's note.
Stories are personal by nature. A recording may mention someone's health, faith, family history or other sensitive things. We treat everything in a recording the same way: we use it only to run Quilt for your family.
Things we make from what you give us
- Transcripts of each conversation, made by speech-to-text services.
- Story titles, chapters, summaries and themes, written by an AI model from the transcript so you can find stories later.
- The interviewer's notes. Quilt remembers what a storyteller has already told it, so the next conversation picks up where the last one stopped. These notes stay inside one family. If a storyteller belongs to two families, the interviewer in one knows nothing about the other.
Things collected when you use Quilt
- Which stories you've played, so we can show you what's new.
- Basic technical information: your browser and device type, IP address and error logs.
- Whether you opened our emails and clicked their links.
- Cookies that keep you signed in. We don't use advertising cookies or ad trackers.
On our website
Our website, tellquilt.com, uses three measurement tools. They run only on the website, never in the Quilt app, and they never touch your recordings.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel. Records which pages you visit and how you arrived, so we can measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and improve them. This information is shared with Meta.
- Google Analytics. Counts visits and page views so we can understand how people use the site. This information is shared with Google.
- Microsoft Clarity. Records anonymized session replays and heatmaps so we can see where the site is confusing. This information is shared with Microsoft.
Your choice. If you live somewhere that requires cookie consent, such as the EU, UK or Switzerland, these tools stay off until you accept. Everywhere else they run by default, and you can turn them off at any time with the setting on this page. Your choice is saved in this browser and applies immediately. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a choice to turn them off.
Current setting: not set yet
What we do with it
We use your information to:
- run the interviews and keep your family's stories;
- turn conversations into clips, transcripts and chapters your family can browse;
- let the interviewer remember earlier conversations;
- send calendar invitations for a storyteller's time to talk;
- send emails about your account, new stories and messages, and your plan;
- charge for plans, work out sales tax and handle refunds;
- measure how people use our website and how our ads perform;
- keep Quilt secure, fix problems and see which features people use; and
- follow the law.
We don't sell your personal information. The Meta Pixel on our website sends Meta information about visits to tellquilt.com so we can measure and improve our ads, and some state laws call that "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. It happens only on our website, never in the Quilt app, and you can turn it off (see "On our website"). We don't use your recordings, transcripts or messages to train AI models.
People at Quilt can open recordings and transcripts when we need to run, support or protect Quilt, or when the law requires it.
Voices, and what we don't do with them
Quilt tells speakers apart by timing: who was talking when. Our speech-to-text services process the sound of a recording to turn it into words, but nothing in Quilt uses a voice to work out who someone is. We don't create voiceprints or any other biometric identifier (a way to recognize someone from their body or voice), and we don't use recordings to recognize people.
Quilt never uses AI to generate, clone or alter a family member's voice. The only computer voice in Quilt is the interviewer's.
Who can see your family's stories
- Everyone in your family can listen to its stories, messages and replies, apart from stories that have been hidden.
- Nobody outside your family can, unless someone in it shares a recording themselves.
- People at Quilt, as described above.
- The services listed below, only to do their job.
Services we use
Each processes your data under contract, only to run Quilt. The last three run only on our website, and Meta, Google and Microsoft also use what they receive under their own privacy policies.

| Deepgram (through LiveKit) | Hears the storyteller during a conversation | Live audio |
| Cartesia (through LiveKit) | Speaks the interviewer's questions | The interviewer's questions, as text |
| Anthropic | The AI model that decides what the interviewer asks, and writes titles and summaries | Transcripts and the interviewer's notes |
| ElevenLabs | Makes the detailed transcript used to cut clips | The storyteller's recording. We've opted out of ElevenLabs using it to train its models. |
| Our payment processor | Takes payments and calculates sales tax | The payer's name, email, billing address and payment details |
| Postmark | Sends account emails and calendar invitations | Name, email address and the time to talk |
| Customer.io | Sends story and message emails | Name, email, family name and which emails you've received |

If we add or change a service, we'll update this list.
How long we keep things
- While your family's account is open, we keep its stories, recordings, transcripts and messages, so they're there whenever you want them.
- If your family's plan ends, the archive stays. Everyone can still listen, and admins can still download. There are no new conversations, messages, replies or invitations.
- A deleted story goes to the family's Bin for 30 days, in case it was a mistake. Then it's permanently deleted with its messages and replies, or sooner if someone deletes it for good from the Bin.
- A deleted message or reply is removed right away.
- A deleted family account is locked for 30 days, and any admin can restore it. After that, everything is permanently deleted: recordings, transcripts, messages and every person's connection to the family.
- When someone is removed from a family, their recordings stay with the family, and the admins decide what happens to them. If that person isn't in any other family, we delete their login.
- Backups. We back up our database daily and keep each backup for 7 days, so deleted information is gone from backups within 7 days.
- Our services' own copies. Some services keep data for a short time after we've finished with it: Anthropic up to 30 days (longer for content its safety systems flag), Postmark 45 days for email content, ElevenLabs up to 30 days in its backups, and Railway 30 days for logs.
- Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
What this looks like in legal terms
Some US state laws ask us to list what we collect by category. Here it is.
| Category | Examples | Shared with |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email, IP address | The services above |
| Audio | Recordings, voice messages | Cloudflare, LiveKit, Deepgram, ElevenLabs |
| Customer and payment records | Plan, payments, billing address | Our payment processor |
| Internet activity | What you've played, email opens and clicks, error logs | Supabase, Customer.io, Railway; on our website, Meta, Google and Microsoft |
| Things we infer | Story titles, summaries, themes, the interviewer's notes | Supabase, Anthropic |
We collect these from you, from your family's admins, and from how you use Quilt. We use them only for the purposes in "What we do with it" and keep them as described in "How long we keep things".
Your choices and rights
- See or download your information. Admins can download any story from the story itself. For a copy of everything we hold about you, write to hello@tellquilt.com.
- Correct it. Edit your profile in Quilt, or ask us.
- Delete it. Delete your own messages and replies in Quilt. A storyteller can delete their own stories, admins can delete any story, and admins can delete the family's account. If you're not an admin, ask your family's admin, or write to us.
- Stop emails. Every story and message email has an unsubscribe link. We'll still send emails you need to use Quilt, like password resets and notices about your plan.
Some laws, such as those in California, Texas, the EU and the UK, give people further rights: to know what we hold, to object to how we use it, to move it elsewhere, and to complain to a data protection authority. We give these rights to everyone, wherever you live. If you ask us to delete recordings that belong to a family's archive, we'll tell the family's admins, and where the law requires us to delete them, we will.
How to ask. Write to hello@tellquilt.com, from the email on your account if you can. We'll confirm it's you before we act, and someone you authorize can ask for you. We'll answer within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking. If we say no, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we'll respond within 60 days.
We don't sell personal information. To opt out of the sharing done by the Meta Pixel on our website, use the setting in "On our website". We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out.
If you're in the EU or UK, we rely on these legal grounds: running the service you signed up for (contract); keeping Quilt secure and improving it (our legitimate interests); story and message emails (your consent, which you can withdraw by unsubscribing); and meeting legal duties.
A note for storytellers
Recordings are shared within a family and belong to the family, which its admins manage. A storyteller who leaves a family can't take their recordings out of it or delete them from it; the admins decide, unless the law gives you a right to have them deleted. If that matters to you, talk to your admin before you start.
Children and age
You must be 18 or older to set up a family, pay for a plan, or buy or open a gift. You confirm this when you do.
Anyone invited to a family must be 13 or older. The admin confirms this when sending the invitation, and the person confirms their age again when they join. We don't ask for a date of birth.
Quilt isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If we learn that someone under 13 is using Quilt, we'll delete their information. If you think that's happened, tell us at hello@tellquilt.com.
Security
Data travels encrypted between your device and Quilt, and our database and storage providers keep it encrypted. You sign in with your email and a password, and only people in a family can reach its stories. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you, and the authorities, as the law requires.
Where your data is stored
Quilt is run from the United States. Our database is in Virginia and our servers are in the US East region. Audio files are stored with Cloudflare in North America. If you use Quilt from outside North America, your information is transferred here. Where the law requires it, the standard contractual clauses in our providers' data processing agreements cover these transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email every family's admins and show a notice in Quilt at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
